Kitchen Renovation - Day 2

After tearing down the cement board of the dividing wall between the kitchen and living room, we had to build up two temporary support walls in order to remove the majority of the load-baring wall.  Here are some pictures of the progress (the first photo is the before shot of the wall separating the living room and kitchen):




We also tore out the shelving in the hall closet, which will become a laundry closet for a stackable, full-size washer/dryer.  Here's the before and after:



Afterwards, we picked some of the white grapefruit from our tree in the front yard as a take-home gift for our fabulous electrician (shout out to Adam at Mr. Electric!!) 

And look what we found on the roof!!  This item will appear at our garage sale in 2 weeks (October 15&16) if you want dibs on it!
